CHOOSING A TRIP

Day 1

Bagdogra - Phuentsholing

Arrival

  • Touch down at Bagdogra (Siliguri, West Bengal) and drive in to Phuentsholing (alt. 300m / 985 ft); a thriving commercial center. 
    On arrival, check in to your hotel rooms & in the evening, go for a walk around Zangthopelri Lhakhang, situated in the heart of the city.

Overnight stay will be at the hotel in Phuentsholing.

Day 2

Phuentsholing - Thimphu

Morning Immigration Formalities and Transfer to Thimphu (Sightseeing & Night Stay)

  • After an early breakfast, complete all the immigration formalities at Phuentsholing and then drive to Thimphu. On arrival, check in at the hotel.
     
  • An evening visit to Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang) is one of the highlights of the trip. The largest seated Buddha statue (169ft) in the country, celebrating the 60th anniversary of fourth king Jigme Singye Wangchuck, is located at a short drive from Thimphu city.
     
  • Visit the King's Memorial Chorten, the Memorial Stupa also known as the Thimphu Chorten, located on Doeboom Lam in the southern-central part of the city.
     
  • Go for a walk in the Coronation Park
     
  • See Trashichhoedzonga Buddhist monastery and fortress on the northern edge of the city of Thimphu in Bhutan, on the western bank of the Wang Chu.

Overnight stay at the hotel in Thimphu. 

Day 3

Thimphu Sightseeing

Exploring Thimphu

After breakfast, prepare to explore all the remaining places of interest in Thimphu.

  • Visit Takin Preserve Centre located in the Motithang district of Thimphu. It is a reserve for Takins, the national animal of Bhutan, which has the body of a cow and the head of a goat.
  • Visit Sangaygang and the BBS (Bhutan Broadcasting Service) Tower to take a glimpse of Thimphu valley.
  • Visit Changangkha Lhakang, a fortress like temple and monastic school perched on a ridge above Thimphu, south of Motithang. The temple was established in 12th century on a site chosen by Lama Phajo Drugom Shigpo, who came from Tibet. The central statue here is Chenrezig in a manifestation with 11 heads.
  •  Proceed to see The National Library that explores the history of Bhutan.
  • In the evening, explore the government-run Handicrafts Emporium and Local Crafts bazaar.

Overnight stay will be at the hotel in Thimphu.

Day 4

Paro Taktshang Hike

Hiking up to Taktshang Monastery (Tiger's Nest)

After an early breakfast, transfer to Paro (1 hr.)

  • Go for a hike to Taktshang Monastery (Tiger's Nest). Take a walk through the pine forest where you will see the beauty of nature. Taktshang Lhakhang is one of the most famous monasteries in the wolrd where the nest of the Tiger is perched on the side of a cliff 900m above the Paro valley floor.
  • Evening time can be spent at leisure exploring Paro town.

Overnight stay will be at the hotel in Paro.

You can have an optional stone bath to relieve your fatigue (not included in the package).

 

Day 5

Paro Sightseeing - Phuentsholing

Paro Sightseeing & Transfer to Phuentsholing

After breakfast, spend the first half of your day experiencing what Paro has to offer.

  • Visit Ta Dzong, the infrastructure of which was created to house some of the finest specimens of Bhutanese art, including masterpieces of bronze statues and paintings. Suitable galleries were constructed to house the extensive collections. Works of art were elegantly displayed on scientific lines.
     
  • Walk down the trail to see Rinpung Dzong, which houses the district Monastic Body and government administrative offices of Paro Dzongkhag.  
     
  • Also visit the 7th Century Kyichu Lhakhang, situated in Lango Gewog of Paro District in Bhutan. It is one of the 108 temples built in the Himalayas by the Tibetan King, Songtsen Gampo.

Then travel back to Phuentsholing. 

  •  5 kilometers before our destination, visit Kharbandi Goenpa from where you can get the  bird’s eye view of Phuentsholing city and the Indian DOOARS area (border town).

     On arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy your last night stay in Bhutan.

Day 6

Tour End

Departure

After an early breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred back to Bagdogra/NJP Railway Station for your flight/train back to your onward destination.
Our team at I & I Bhutan will help you with all the exit formalities and bid you farewell.
