CHOOSING A TRIP

Day 1

Paro

After Immigration Formalities Drive to Paro Night Stay.

National Museum: National Museum of Bhutan is a cultural museum in the town of Paro in western Bhutan. Established in 1968, in the renovated ancient Ta-dzong building, above Rinpung Dzong under the command of His Majesty, the King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the third hereditary Monarch of Bhutan. The necessary infrastructure was created to house some of the finest specimens of Bhutanese art, including masterpieces of bronze statues and paintings. Suitable galleries were constructed to house the extensive collections. Works of art were elegantly displayed on scientific lines.

Ta Dzong: One time watch tower built to defend Rinpung Dozng during inter-valley wars of the 17th century, since 1967 Ta Dzong is serving as the National Museum of the country. It holds fascinating collection of art, relics, religious thangkha paintings and Bhutan's exquisite postage stamps. The museum circular shape augments its varied collection displayed over several floors.

Day 2

Paro and Thimphu

Hike to Taktsang and Thimphu Night Stay.

After Early Morning Breakfast Hike Taktsang: Paro Taktsang also known as the Taktsang Palphug Monastery and the Tiger's Nest), is a prominent Himalayan Buddhist sacred site and the temple complex is located in the Cliffside of the upper Paro valley in Bhutan.

Jangtsa Dumgtseg Lhakhang: Jangtsa Dumgtseg Lhakhang [zlum brtshegs lha khang] is a Buddhist temple in western Bhutan. The temple is notable as it is in the form of a horten, very rare in Bhutan.

Buddha Point: Great Buddha Dordenma is a gigantic Shakyamuni Buddha statue in the mountains of Bhutan celebrating the 60th anniversary of fourth king Jigme Singye Wangchuck.

BBS Tower: There's a wonderful view of Thimphu valley from the hillside below the Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS) tower (2685m), high above the town at the end of a road that branches off from the approach to the youth centre.

Day 3

Thimphu - Punakha Sightseeing

Dochula Pass( Punakha ): Dochula Pass is a mountain pass in the snow covered Himalayas within Bhutan on the road from Thimphu toPunakha where 108 memorial chortens or stupas known as "Druk Wangyal Chortens" have been built by Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk.

Punakha Dzong: This is one thing that this area is extremely famous for. Referred to as the place of happiness this is the second oldest Dzong in Bhutan.

Suspension Bridge: One of the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan, spanning 160 -180m and perched high above the very swift river of Po Chhu. Draped with prayer flags, the bridge connects the town of Punakha and the Punakha Dzong, mainly used by locals from the other side of the town as a shortcut to Punakha Dzong.

Day 4

Punakha - Thimphu Sightseeing

Tashichho Dzong: Tashichhoedzong is a Buddhist monastery and fortress on the northern edge of the city of Thimphu in Bhutan, on the western bank of the Wang Chu.

Folk Heritage Museum: The Folk Heritage Museum or Phelchey Toenkhyim is a museum in Thimphu, Thimphu District, Bhutan.

Taking Reserve Centre: Motithang Takin Preserve, located in the Motithang district of Thimphu, Bhutan is a wildlife reservearea.

Handicrafts Shops: A wide assortment of colorful, hand woven textiles and other craft products is available for purchase at the government-run Handicrafts Emporium and many smaller crafts shops around the town.

Changangkha Lhakhang : It is a fortress like temple and monastic school perched on a ridge above Thimphu, south of Motithang. The temple was established in 12th century on a site chosen by Lama Phajo Drugom Shigpo, who came from Tibet. The central statue here is Chenrezig in a manifestation with 11 heads. From temple courtyard, there is fascinating view of Thimphu valley.

Day 5

Thimphu - Phuentsholing
